A pineapple bun is a kind of sweet bun predominantly popular in Hong Kong and China, though they are also common in Chinatowns worldwide. This is our classic Chinese pineapple bun, which has in fact no pineapple inside. It has slightly sweet bread base with a crispy cookie dough top. It is called the pineapple bun, because it is made to resemble the epicarp of a pineapple after baking.
